Vivacious young O’Connor women. I always thought this photo contained the four. But today’s raid on the album at Dad’s shows one missing. Still, that’s Betty on the left, who died at 92 last week, Mum in the middle, and Patsy on the right. Old photos like these mesmerise me. How can age possibly weary these women? The photos speak. And time stands still.
My Maternal Grandmother Grace Mutton. She died from septicemia when Mum was 10. Gloria, Betty and Patsy Kathy and Gloria Our historic O’Connor family photo. At no time before or since did the sisters ever get themselves and their broods together again There are only two positively identified people in this photo. My Great Grandmother Jesse Mutton holds baby Kathy O’Connor. Maybe. And the fellow might be Jesse’s son from her first marriage, Ronald Arthur Stace. Or it could be my Grandfather Des O’Connor with my Grandmother. Kathy and my Mum, Gloria, in what looks to be an early Twenties tourer. I was quite staggered to find the faint inscription by pen ‘Kathy and Gloria Feb 1928’
